š„ How to warm up for a 5k run. šš»āāļøšØ
Lockdown has seen an increase in people running, and more of us are pounding the pavements then ever - normally chasing that magical 5k PB.
However, many don't actually know how to warm up correctly, to get the most out of their run and prevent injury. It's not just as simple as stretching each muscle group - you should be swapping your static stretching routine for something a little more dynamic. š¤øš»āāļø
After a slow and steady 5-10 minute jog (to get the heart rate up), you can do these dynamic drills over a 10-20 metre grid:
š¶š»āāļø Ankling - warm up the achilles and calves š¦µš» Straight leg kickouts - elbows driving with good posture šš»āāļø Knee taps - mobilising the hips and hamstrings
Let our Polar UK Head Coach Nick Anderson and his Runningwithus team take you through the warm up, adn you'll be smashing those PB's in no time!
