September & October Results

The autumn is a key period of racing for our runners and we have already seen some fantastic results.

Tracy Barlow (75 minutes) won Maidenhead Half Marathon and broke the course record running at marathon pace with Hayley Munn and Dan Mutlow (both 79 minutes) also running strongly around marathon pace. Darren Roberts raced brilliantly to finish in 1.26. Further afield Fabian Thehos claimed an excellent PB at Copenhagen Half Marathon with 86:11.

Tracy Barlow also picked up a silver medal in the British Half Marathon Championships on a tough course at in Nottingham. Competitors faced a challenging hilly race which but RunningwithUs athletes performed well throughout the field and whilst fast times were not the order of the day finishing places were! Tracy finished 3rd overall, and 2nd Brit with a time of 75:22. Also performing well were Emma Patel, 9th (83:57), Becky Gallop 13th (87:21). George King raced brilliantly to claim a big PB to finish 11th and 10th in the British Championships with 71:38 with Gary McKivett having a strong tempo run in 76:12. Judith Mitchell had a solid run out at Bristol Half Marathon, on pacing duties Judith ran 2:08 as an easy training run and now looks forward to Birmingham Half for a full paced effort.

Cardiff Half saw some great conditions for fast running and Axel Manzano continued his fabulous year of PBs - this time taking over 4 minutes off his half marathon best to finish in 74:06. Matthew Walker also claimed a superb PB off the back off plenty of cross training with 82:17 in a very well paced run. Bournemouth Half Marathon also saw some great conditions for fast running with Rachel Greener running 2:08 - rich reward for a hard summer of training. Oxford Half Marathon found Sarah Winter in great form running close to her PB with 84:19 for 6th place. Georgia Wood made it 3 race wins in 3 weeks to win the trail Clarendon Way Half Marathon by over 10 minutes. Also racing and winning off road was Caroline Tuck who had a superb win at the Kings First Trail Marathon, first home by nearly 25 minutes!

Paddy Maloney claimed a huge 5km PB with 21:15 at Cardiff parkrun. Paulette Storey also had a strong parkrun over a challenging, hilly course Paulette ran 25:50. mat Chataway had a great return to form when winning RP10km in 34:39. Paulos Asgodom races very well for the first time over a longer distance to finish 5ht in the Cabbage Patch 10 miler in 50:53 - comfortably the fastest 10 mile by any under 20 in the UK this year.

Marathon season is has also kicked off with Berlin and Nottingham Marathons in September. Sarah Davis-Foxon finished 2nd overall at Nottingham in a time of 3 hours and 4 minutes. Susanna Harrison ran her fastest time for several years to finish in 3:06 to also put her in the top 10 v50 runners in the UK. Filipe Borne also had a brilliant run at Berlin Marathon. After an injury hit few weeks Filipe ran 3:50, feeling strong throughout and now looks forward to a smoother few weeks before NYC marathon in November. A big shout also goes out to Nic Teirney who joined Ben Smith on his 401 marathon challenge and covered her longest ever run in the process tackling 15 miles, superb Nic!

Cross country season started with a bang with Tracy Barlow winning the first race in the highly competitive London Metropolitan League and a very strong showing from India Lee (4th), Hayley Munn (6th), Julia Davis (7th), Mel Wilkins (15th) and Simone Dailey (19th) in the first Hampshire League meeting. George King went out hard to mix it with some of the UKs best at the start of the mens race and finished a strong, if painful 19th overall. It was wonderful to also see the first full race for many of the under 11s and under 13s we coach at Winchester & District AC with the u/11 boys in particular dominating their race.

Finally a huge well done to Victoria Carter on being seelcted to run for England as a vet. Rich reward for many months of hard training this year!
