August Results Update
On this page we will be logging some of the fantastic results our athletes have achieved over the last few weeks.
Norwich 10km was a successful day for our athletes. Over a challenging course and in windy conditions George King finished 5th overall with a time of 33:40, Tracy Barlow was the winner of the women's race in 35:19 and finished 7th overall. Emma Patel was 6th woman in 38:50.
Julia Davis finished 2nd at Indian Queens Half Marathon in 83:29 - an excellent performance as a training run! Susanna Harrison also performed well over the half distance tackling Burnham Beeches Half as a marathon paced training run completing the course in 92:20. Also racing in the middle of marathon prep was Matthew Walker who finished a brilliant 6th at Sevenoaks 7.
Big congratulations goes to Rebecca Gallop who won the Notts Summer League for 2016 and also achieved an excellent PB to finish 6th at Newark Half Marathon in 01:25:36. Rhian Jinny-Jones also celebrated a series prize winning Bristol & West ACs prize as Gwent XC Champions with Rhi as Bristol's highest scorer.
Mat Chataway tackled the epic Aneto Posets Gran Trail in the Pyrenees, surviving the 70 miles, soaring temperatures & 7,000m of climbing with all limbs fully intact. Also racing and winning off road was Georgia Wood who won the Cheddar Gorge Half Marathon Challenge.
The Berlin Night 10km saw a great result and PB for Tracy Barlow finishing in 34:23. Also achieving a new PB was Axel Manzano who ran 16:49 at Holkham parkrun and followed this up with a win at Hyde Park 10km a few days later. On the track Axel also saw success with another PB, this time over 5,000m running 16:28 at Wimbledon Hercules Track Meet with Dan Mutlow also running strongly to finish in 16:39. Steve Watmough ran a 5km PB at 54 years young in 17:06 at Manchester 5km.
George King ran a 5km PB with 15:48 at Lakeside 5km in Portsmouth. Running on his own it was also a big win in tough, hot and humid conditions following this up with a 10km PB running 32:22 at Cardiff 10km - great reward for a tough 3 monhts of trianing. Sarah Davis-Foxon continued an excellent run for form to finish 2nd in tough conditions at Kimbolton Half Marathon.
Barbara Urogdi made a good return to racing with a Mo Farah style fall not stopping her completing the Suhanj6 night race 10km running strongly. Paddy Maloney and Rhian Jinny-Jones both had excellent races at Brecon 10. Paddy ran 3 minutes faster than his 2015 time to finish in 1.18, and Rhian 2 minutes faster to finish 2nd in 68:13.
On the bike Chris Newberry had a fantastic experience at Ride London, smashing his goal of 6 hours to finish bang on 5 hours - great reward for weeks of hard turbo and road bike sessions.
September is often a key month of racing for those tackling Autumn marathons and half marathons and has started with a bang for our athletes. Tracy Barlow (75 minutes) won Maidenhead Half Marathon and broke the course record running at marathon pace with Hayley Munn and Dan Mutlow (both 79 minutes) also running strongly around marathon pace. Darren Roberts raced brilliantly to finish in 1.26.
