Summer Results Update

It's been a super busy couple of months at RunningwithUs and for all of our athletes with some really fabulous performances. Below are some of the highlights and this is by no means an exhaustive list!

It was wonderful to see Tracy Barlow running in the World Championship marathon on the streets of London and whilst it was a tough day at the office for Tracy it was wonderful to see her race the best in the world and we look forward to many top flight performances in the future.

Well done to India Lee finishing 19th in the latest ITU World Triathlon Series race in Stockholm - you can catch up with the highlights on iplayer - http://www.bbc.co.uk/…/triathlon-world-series-2017-30-stock…

Becky Gallop and Annaka Charters both had good run outs at the Olympic Park 10km to finish 1st and 2nd respectively and Emma Risbey had a fantastic day in winning Norwich 10km - a really big race and a great win, well done Emma. Rachel Greener topped off a good series at the final Yateley 10km braving awful conditions to finish with a strong 58 minutes - an excellent run. Andy Land continued has return to form with a strong run at Lancaster 5km before following this up with an excellent performance at St Clears 10km finishing 15th. Paulette Storey also performed well at Lancaster 5km with a seasons best and age category win. Warm and humid conditions faced runners at the Pride 10km in London but George King (33:42) and Chris Newberry (47:44) put in solid performances. Becky Gallop claimed an excellent 10km PB with 37:53 at Long Bennington 10km and Ian Hunter had a strong run at Holme Pierrepont Grand Prix 10K to finish in 35:55.

Georgia Wood turned in a brilliant performance to win Salisbury 5/4/3/2/1 half marathon and Donato Esposito made a strong racing come back to take and age category win in his new home race - the Isle of Man Half Marathon. It was great to see Mandy Dohren making an excellent return to racing at Southport Half Marathon finishing 4th in 84:56 after a frustrating year of injuries in 2016.

Tim Pendergast made a return to the track in one of his first shorter distance outings since the 2012 Paralympic Games, running 9:18 in the 3,000m at SAL. Coach Mel Wilkins had a wonderful day in Cardiff as she won the Welsh National Steeplechase title and backed this up with an excellent 7th in the British Championships - we are all super proud of you Mel. Keir Sullivan made good progress at the recent Open 1500m at Watford running 4:19 and James Heneghan claimed PBs at 1500m (3:54) and 3,000m (8:43).

Having cleaned up a load of US parkrun course records Paul Martelletti return to the UK to run a very strong 14:26 at the Hercules Wimbledon AC 5000m Festival and Aaron Scott also put in a great performance on the track with 14:36 at the NACHT van de Atletiek in Belgium. Stewart McAndie broke a long run of low 17 minute 5kms to run 16:57 at Hercules Wimbledon AC 5000m Festival where we were also pleased to see Axel Manzano make a welcome return to racing. Rhian Jinny-Jones continued a strong run of form at the SSAFA 5km in Cardiff to run a new PB of 18:25 and Paddy Maloney also claimed a big PB over 5km with 21:31 at Aztec West 5km. Michael Gilbert capped a fantastic spring and summer of racing with a huge 5km PB at Ipswich Twilight 5km with 15:37 and Alex Smith also made great strides over 5km pushing his PB down to 17:00 at the Kevin Henry Summer Series.

Over the longer distances Mat Chataway tackled the Endurance Life Snowdonia Quarter - 46 miles taking in Snowdon itself. It was great to see Mat run strongly to finish 3rd. Graham Knight continued his Autumn ultra prep with a superb performance to finish 2nd at Hoad Hill Marathon - benefitting from the much cooler conditions in the UK compared to his home stomping ground of Hanoi. The same was true for Aaron Walker, stopping in to the UK from the Cayman Islands Aaron had a brilliant race at Race to the Stones finishing 72nd and picking up loads of places through the second half of the race. Nick Young also took on an ultra finishing 12th at Race to the King. Tess Gallagher ran brilliantly in the heat at Salisbury 5/4/3/2/1 to achieve one of the leading V60 50km times of recent years. A little bit further back now Adharanand Finn raced Comrades Marathon with a nice consistent performance in 8 hours 43 minutes as he gradually builds ultra experience. Finn picked up over 1400 places through the race - showing his consistency....and how poor many others are at pacing an ultra! Julia Davis took an excellent outright win at the Maverick inov-8 Original Gloucestershire beating the first man by 13 seconds and the 2nd female by 13 minutes.
