May results update

Firstly we are absolutely over moon to see India Lee win the Elite European Triathlon Championships in Lisbon in May. Taking on and beating some of the best triathletes in the world India has now marked herself as one the the big names to watch in the sport. This came ht on the heels of another huge win at the ITU World Cup in Italy. You can real more about these races here.

May is often a month where runners are resetting and focusing on some of the shorter, faster races of the late spring and early summer. We were really excited to be at the Night of the 10,000m PBs, the British Olympic Trials, providing commentary and race statistics. It was wonderful to be so invovled on a night of olympic dreams being made and lost, and a real festival of fast running.

We also had some of our own athletes running. In the first race of the evening Axel Manzano claimed another huge PB to run 35:09 - down from 38:18 which was his PB when he started working with Tom 6 months ago. Aaron Scott raced strongly to run 30:14 and Paul Martelletti then ran in the full Olympic Trial race, as a last minute call up, and claimed a fantastic PB to run 29:26.

Off the track Emma Patel continued her recent run of excellent form to run her fastest time for 10 years, 17:47 at Wroxham 5km, winning in the process. Emma also travelled to Wales with Winchester and District AC to race, and win, her leg at the Welsh Castle Relay. Also over 5km, in this case 5,000m on the track Paulos Asgodom, coached by Nick and Craig Winrow, ran 14:09 at the BMC Grand Prix race at Sport City to gain and invite to the British Olympic 5,000m trial.

Tackling something a bit longer was Rachel Greener who flew to Geneva and faced warm conditions but raced very strong to finish in 2:13. Also tackling the half marathon distance was Aaron Walker who ran a hot Buffalo Half Marathon in 1.26. Nic Tierney completed the 40km Just Walk event in Chichester - taking her feet further than they have ever gone before, a taster for the marathon later in the year!

David Percy had excellent PB at Gt Baddow 10 mile with 1:15:45 and Kevin Henry ran a 5k PB at the Ely Summer Series finishing in 20:52. Big well done to Hester Barsham-Rolfe on her continued run of good form with 3rd place and a PB at Southwark Park 10km.

Huge well done to Ralph Collett who saw a good return for a period of strong training with 79:31 at Edinburgh Half Marathon and followed this up with a 10km PB at Worthing 10km with 36:25. Rachel Greener had a fantastic run at the first Yateley 10km in the popular summer series nailing her 60 minute goal to run 58:22.

Axel with this enthusiastic, if slightly sinister, support.
