Qualified as an advanced personal trainer last week, the office seems a lifetime away now!

Just a quick message to say well done to Lorna, Dee and Phoebe on your performances at Claybury at the weekend, was good to see you.
Just thought I’d share this video of George Gandy talking about Jon Brown, and his progression into marathon running. Cheers, T.

Really interesting blog Alan. When I am coaching threshold is often the pace people seem to struggle to understand more than any other, odd given most are racing over 10k-HM. I used to express threshold as ‘10 mile race pace’ to most people. As I have got more experienced I and spoken with more coaches [...]

Matt – it really depends on what you would be using your bike for in the main. I am not sure a fixie is the best bike to use for cross trainign specifically. I use a fixie for commuting and cycling around London doing errands becuase it is so quicka nd simple to get about [...]

Simon I love my Adizero Adios and work for me from 5k right up to marathon. I also use the Adizero Pro’s for shorter races but I don’t find them quite as responsive as the Adios. I enjoy running in Saucony A2s and prtevious Brooks t5s as well mate – I found I could easily [...]

Ben, Sending you all the best for a speedy recovery. This sounds like positive decision by a proffessional – long term it will obviously stand you in better stead to deal with some short term frustration and disappointment rather than risking your plans for the next 3 or 4 years which are certain to be [...]

Paris is one cliché I am happy to embrace. I love this city; I can’t help but allow myself to be taken in by it. The epitome of effortless beauty – the buildings, the people, the food; it makes me ache, walk wide-eyed, and embrace being child-like – shedding my British cynicism. I am here with [...] -
First half marathon in 16 months now looming large. Weather in Paris looks good, trusting the 12mph wind reports, not the 28mph wind reports. Bit tense; it feels good to be racing again!

I love to write, really I do. When I feel in the mood I can get words to flow more quickly than I can turn my legs over in a 200m rep session, I have been paid to write….so why, I wonder, have I never got on well with blogs. I have never been short of things [...]

After taking a couple of days off through tiredness came back with a really strong 10 mins threshold, 2 x (6 x 400m), 10 min treshold last night at Battersea Track. Confidence back for Paris Half a week Sunday.

Felt absolutely wasted half way through a key threshold session last week. Had to take a few days off to feel like I have some energy again. Back on the oatcakes and iron – thanks for the advice Nick and Simon – feeling a bit stronger now.

One of the other benefits I have found from meeting Nick and Phoebe is a much more positive and healthy attitude to food. I don’t mind admitting that I have had my issues with food and weight over the years and can’t pretend that weight and food has not been a part of my early [...]

Tom here, Started running in late 2007/2008 when my Dad was diagnosed with cancer and I made the inevitable decision to run a marathon to raise money. After 4 months got around Bath half in 1:29, 10 months got around Berlin marathon in 3:01 so decided it was worth having a go to see how [...]

Well done Tom and this session will certainly build in the weeks ahead. Great to hear the pace felt right and controlled. We are into the crucial last 12 weeks of marathon prep towards Seville now! Keep up the good work
