To do this it can be extremely helpful to know what has gone before and I usually raise a weary eyebrow when confronted by an athlete who can’t remember what has gone well or badly… or at all! So do yourself a favour and make your next challenge keeping a record of your training. It will help you improve no end.

It has been a busy few weeks as far as RunningWithUs athletes have been concerned with some great results from marathons such as London, Paris, Brighton and races in Edinburgh and even Bungay! Here is a quick reminder of who has done what… and well done to everyone:

Duncan Cruttenden ran one of his fastest marathons for a while in 3:21

Freya Gillott, part of the Project 26.2 finished in 3:42

Naomi Korn finished in 6:45

Natalie Guerin managed to come home in 7:34

Holly Rush, part of the RunningWithUs team with her husband Martin, was 3rd woman and 1st British woman on the day with 2:41 just a few weeks after racing another marathon in Houston, USA

Paris marathon

Kathy Drew managed a huge PB finishing in 3:40

London mini-marathon

Paulos Asgodom was 2nd in this tough, competitive race

Petros Asgodom finished just behind in 9th place

London marathon

James Cooper 2.44 (pb by 8 mins)

Simon Freeman 2.38 (pb by 2 mins)

Stella Moss 3.13 (pb by 5 mins)

Adam McCarthur 3.06 (pb by 35 mins!)

Adam Lawrence 3.03 (pb by 2-3 mins)

Lee Braithwaite 3.15 (pb by 9 mins)

Caroline Tuck 3.14 and missed her pb by 10 seconds but consolidated a wonderful Amsterdam time from last year.

Audra Dennison 3.31 and a tough day at the office but lovely to see her back racing.

Ian Leitch 2.26 and a fine marathon debut!

Mark Curtis 3.07 (a huge 30 min pb)

Ray Sievey 4.20 (a 5 min pb and return to marathon running after a 14 year break)

Diana Cash 4.00.12 and just missed the 4 hour barrier(a small pb and lets smash 4 next time but wow was that close)

Penny Elliot 4.02 and a fine run after a number of weeks X training due to injury.

Simon Harris 3.09 (just missed his pb but a fine return to racing and training over the past few months after injury)

So there you have it, some great results and plenty of sore legs! Now it’s time to rest and recover before the summer training starts. Well done, everyone.

Hello to all the RunningWithUs community. I would like to make a quick announcement about Tuesday night about an opportunity for you all to achieve 5 minutes of fame and support Phoebe and myself and RunningWithUs in the process.

Sky Sports News are making a short documentary about preparing for and racing a marathon which will be aired on the Monday evening in the week leading up to London. They are interviewing Phoebe and myself at training on Tuesday night to get top tips and an understanding of what its like to train for and race a marathon.

They have also said that they would also like to chat to quite a few of our runners, particularly those who are training for a marathon just now or have raced one in the past and they will then film us warming up and training

It’ll be great fun and we really encourage as many of you as possible will come along to train or even pop by to do the drills and an easy run if you were not scheduled to train hard: you should get your moment of fame and we would really appreciate the support.

Naturally we would tell you to please wear your normal training kit, brush your teeth and make sure the hair is looking good… and if possible wear any Saucony kit you have! Training will start at 7pm as normal and we’ll train in our usual way.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Tuesday and have a great bank holiday weekend in the mean time.

It is safe to say Nick’s life is running and coaching. With over 25 years running experience, he is a graduate in Science & management of health & fitness, a UKA level 4 endurance coach, a qualified nutritionist and sports therapy practitioner and enjoys coaching all levels of runner. Alongside being the head coach at Men’s Running magazine, you may have also regularly read his articles from his time as lead coach for Runners World or in publications such as Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, Harpers Bizarre and Zest.

Nick coaches and guides a number of International elite athletes who have ambitions towards 2012 and beyond. He loves coaching and advising runners at all levels and loves to share his passion and enthusiasm for the sport by also helping beginners, club runners and coaches every day. With his holistic approach to the sport Nick believes in not only the training session but also getting the other 22 hours of the day right. He has an individual approach to every single person he coaches helping to analyse lifestyle, work style, dietary issues and by then setting achievable goals for the individual he sees endless results and PBs a plenty! Nick still loves to race when he can for club, charity and honour! He was a junior and senior International on the track, road and cross-country and can help you crack those race demons and racing mindset.

You might see him at races advising his athletes, providing race commentary, on a training camp offering advice to one of his many clients or just simply at the track or in the park enjoying running with and coaching real people who run.

The real Phoebe Thomas is also an Advanced Personal Trainer, Running coach and holds numerous Strength and Conditioning qualifications. She loves to run, coach and advise runners entering the sport and wanting to improve as well as advising experienced runners to personal bests. Phoebe loves to target peoples strength and conditioning helping runners to enjoy the sport they love by making them strong enough to run harder for longer. She makes the complicated world of strength and conditioning achievable in your own living room or gym with her running specific workouts.

Phoebe is also a Personal Trainer to those looking to improve their fitness, general health and well being, targeting exercise, weight management and nutrition. This includes working with a number of celebrities.

The perfect way to complement your busy life is to remain healthy, and Phoebe found running 6 years ago when entering and training for her first Cancer Research 5k. She has never looked back and now boasts handy personal bests over distances from 5k to the marathon and often gets seen on the track or battling through mud competing for her club. She can be regularly found supporting her chosen charities at races and frequently puts herself on the line. Phoebe now coaches a number of celebrities, beginners and improvers as they embark on the journey she remembers so well. There are many eating, weight and lifestyle hang ups out there and Phoebe is keen to promote key, simple and easy to follow principals that can see you achieve that new body, new health and new you.

Whether you want to improve your times over 5k to marathon and better your weekly training, or run/walk your first ever 5k with friends, she will help you achieve those goals and is hugely passionate about helping people embrace a healthier lifestyle by making running fun, achievable and sustainable.
